Description: ​​​​​​The white oak is said to be the most important of all of the group of white oaks due to its many uses in woodworking and as a food source for wild life. A natural stand of white oaks is an awesome sight. These are majestic trees. This oak species is suceptiable to quite a few pests and pathogens but is still a viable landscape tree. The name "white oak" is said to come from the Native Americans. They noticed the charachteristic white smooth bark patches that come from a fungal infection that causes "smooth patch" on these trees and hence, the name "white oak" was born.
