Scots pine - Pinus sylvestris
Common Name: Scots pine, Scotch pine
Hardiness Zone: 2 to 7
Height: 30 to 60 ft
Width: 30 to 40 ft
The Scots pine is readily identifiable from a distance. The tree exhibits irregular growth habit that tends to lead to mutiple leaders or contorted looking branches. This is often one of their desirable traits for the landscape. At sunset, when the light hits the bark, the bark comes to life. The deep oranges and reds become almost blazing.
