The blue spruce has been widely planted in the urban environment. Possibly planted too often? Their blue foliage is attractive to many. The blue spruce has many different cultivars on the market from dwarf to weeping varieties. The trees are susceptible to Rhizospaera needlecast. This fungal disease is often associated with drought stressed trees. There are other species of spruce which exhibit resistant to this needle disease.
